The National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX), much like the R.E.N.R. is designed to determine if the student meets the minimum standard of safety required by the National Councils of State Nursing Boards (NCSBN). To register for NCLEX you must contact the state nursing board where you intend to hold your U.S. nursing license. The national passing rate for internationally trained nurses is 43% for first-time testers and 23% for repeat-testers.
The Regional Examination for Nurses Registration (RENR) is the qualifying nursing exam to determine if a nursing student having completed school meets the minimum safety standard to execute patient care as required by nursing councils within the CARICOM region. In order to work in the USA and Canada the nurse must pass the NCLEX exam to get the endorsement of a nursing license.
